Cruise Map - Lancaster Canal

The Lancaster Canal reaches the northernmost point on the waterways network - and one day will continue right to the edge of the Lake District. Linked to the rest of the system when the Ribble Link Navigation opened in 2002, the canal currently extends for over 40 lock-free miles from Preston via the splendid Lune Aqueduct in Lancaster and many miles of rural Lancashire to a terminus at Tewitfield. Beyond there, Tewitfield Locks lie derelict and the final fifteen miles were blocked in several places when the M6 motorway was built, but plans are in hand to reopen the canal right through to its original Kendal terminus.

42 miles no locks
Maximum dimensions: length 72ft, beam 14ft 6in
